Bankole and Gilda's Villa Ortensia D'Avalos wedding, in the countryside near Caserta, was a meeting of two cultures held in one place. Nigerian tradition set much of the day's colour and rhythm — the rituals, the music, the exuberance of the morning, where the groom was photographed mid-dance during preparations — while the villa brought its own timeless frame of stone architecture, clipped greenery and marble busts along the garden paths. The portraits used that contrast deliberately: the groom standing between marble statues, the bride in a white gown against centuries-old stonework, editorial in composition and fine-art in light. Details were styled with care — bridal shoes and pearl jewellery on silk ribbon, a bouquet of ivory and blush roses — but the heart of the gallery is the celebration itself, loud and joyful and entirely theirs.
