The bride got ready among her bridesmaids and her mother, the veil lifted by the sea breeze; the groom dressed with his friends and walked through town with his groomsmen past the cathedral.

The ceremony was held in a small church above the sea, and the couple came out under a shower of petals into a lane full of guests throwing rice. Portraits followed beside a majolica-domed bell tower, beneath the striped arches of the cathedral atrium and on its steps above Piazza Duomo as evening fell.

The celebration closed with toasts among friends. Photographed in an editorial and documentary style, in colour and black and white, the gallery holds the warmth and noise of a wedding in one of Italy's most iconic coastal towns.
