Getting married at Capo Santa Fortunata, Sorrento: a photographer's notes

A pink villa with bougainvillea, paths through the olive trees and dinner under their branches. From a wedding I photographed there.

Vittorio and Anna got ready at Capo Santa Fortunata, a villa just outside Sorrento with pink walls and a lot of garden. That's where we did the portraits too. Dinner was set in the olive grove and, once the lights came on, it turned into a party.

Capo Santa Fortunata: things worth knowing

  • The villa itself, pink walls, bougainvillea and a big wooden door, is a frame on its own for getting ready and the first portraits.
  • Paths through the flowers and olive trees lead to a terrace that looks across the whole bay. Walking and talking there is all the direction you need.
  • Dinner is under the olive trees. Once the lights come on in the branches, the evening takes care of itself.

Getting ready

The invitation, the shoes and a bottle of perfume on a dark table. Lipstick in front of the mirror, the dress with its off-the-shoulder lace, the family gathered in the room. In another corner of the villa, Vittorio fastened his cufflinks by the curtain.

The Capo Santa Fortunata wedding, in the gardens

Outside, the villa is pink and covered in bougainvillea, with a big wooden door that works as a frame on its own. From there the paths lead through flowers and olive trees to a terrace that looks across the whole bay.

I asked them to walk and talk, and stayed a few steps behind.

Dinner in the olive grove

The tables were set under the olive trees, with tall candles, blue and white vases and pears in the middle. After dinner the lights came on in the branches and hardly anyone sat down again.
